A Tale of Forgiveness—Only on Substack!

He was a child when he saw his home crumble in the flames. Now he’s come to reclaim it.

Twenty years ago, a bitter rivalry left Walter Forrester homeless and fatherless, driving him and his mother to seek refuge elsewhere. Driven out again by a temper he can’t control, Walter turns his steps homeward with only the clothes on his back and a hunger for revenge.

One thing he knows: no one can be trusted.

Join Walter and his unlooked-for friends Ralph, Gilbert, and Agnes as they fight to recover a heritage near extinction and learn what it means to forgive.

About the Story

I basically just made this up on the spot. Right now. As I typed it.

However, the roots of this story have been growing for a while. See, one of these characters (I’m not telling who) makes an appearance in another WIP (work in progress) of mine set about forty years later. So, it is remotely connected, and there are ways this story will come into that . . . but this won’t be packed with spoilers (sorry).

Medieval England has always fascinated me. The battles and history, the way power swayed back and forth between different groups, and the stark contrasts in how people in the different social classes lived.

I also find it strikingly easy to draw comparisons between the knights and castles of old, and the ongoing battle between good and evil we are still in today.

This is a little taste of some of the thought that is going into my other books.

But don’t expect it to be perfect! Like my novella, this isn’t going to have the time and effort put into it that my full-length books have.

In fact, this is very off-the-cuff.

How It’s Going to Work

This is a new venture for me, serializing a story as I write it. 😅

Every week, on Tuesdays, you’re going to get a new installment of Crumbling Castles.
